Walkthrough of Dear Esther: Landmark Edition
1. Start the game by selecting “New Game” from the main menu.
2. You will be prompted to choose a difficulty level. Select “Normal.”
3. After the game has loaded, you will be prompted to choose a character. Choose “No One.”
4. You will then be taken to the main menu where you can start the game or load a saved game. Choose “Load Game.”
5. After the loading screen has disappeared, you will be in your first area of the game: The Cradle. Explore and find items that will help you on your journey. There are no enemies in this area, so feel free to explore at your leisure. When you’re ready, head north and enter The Lighthouse.
6. As soon as you enter The Lighthouse, an enemy called a Lurker will appear and attack you automatically. Kill it and continue forward until you reach a door that leads outside of The Lighthouse onto an island with several other buildings on it (see screenshot below). Head into one of these buildings (the one on the right in this screenshot) and explore it for items and clues about what’s going on in this area of the game (see screenshot below).
