The game is set in a fictional post-Soviet republic of “Sarajevo”, which has been occupied by NATO forces. The player assumes the role of one of four soldiers—Captain John Price, Sergeant Edward James “Bobby” Sands, Private Jameson “Jimmy” Gibbs or Lieutenant David Anderson—during the early stages of the occupation in late 1998.
